IGU-CPG Bursaries for Early Careers Academics

The Political Geography Research Group (PolGRG) of the RGS-IBG is pleased to announce that it is funding up to three bursaries of up to £250 each for early career academics based in the UK to attend the International Geographical Union – Commission for Political Geography pre-conference in Belfast, 22-24 August 2024. Applicants must be registered to give a paper at the pre-conference (abstract deadline 1st March 2024), with the deadline for registration one month after the announcement of the conference programme.

Applicants must be members of the PolGRG and based in the UK. They can be postgraduate students, or those who have graduated within the last 5 years. Those without recourse to other institutional funds will be given priority.


To apply please send a 200 word max paragraph by 27th February 2024 detailing why you would benefit from receiving the bursary and providing your name, institutional affiliation, and career stage.

The selection panel for the bursaries would consist of members of the PolGRG committee.
