CfP AAG: Subaltern Geopolitics
22 September 2008
CFP: Annual Association of American Geographers Conference, Las Vegas,
Subaltern Geopolitics
Much has been written about the current “war on terror” from the viewpoint of Western, especially US, policy makers and media, and, lesserly, from European and Middle Eastern perspectives. Much of the rest of the world is removed of agency and reduced to a background — often silenced both in these political geographies and in critiques of them. Inspired by postcolonial, feminist and anti-geopolitical interventions, this session seeks papers which present subaltern imaginaries that offer alternatives to the dominant (critical) geopolitical scripts.
Please contact me (jo.sharp@ges.gla.ac.uk) by Oct 6 if you are interested in contributing to the session.
Cheers
